Industrial Designer

Your mission

In the role of Industrial Designer you are responsible for developing the design and overall user experience of products and (digital) services of the categories cooking and refrigeration, which are sold worldwide under the ASKO and ATAG brand. You will translate product and design briefings into holistic design concepts. You will create mockups, models, illustrations and 2D and 3D renderings for presentation, evaluation and development purposes. Besides that you are responsible to check the feasibility of new solutions / design concepts in terms of cost price, investment, development time and risk, together with R&D, and in general you have a keen eye for value drivers versus cost drivers.

You are part of the Premium Product Brand Management team, consisting of Product Management, Design and Marketing and you report to the design manager cooking & refrigeration (based in Duiven, The Netherlands). 


Responsibilities 

The tasks in your role will be:

• Be part of user research and consumer research.
• Translate user insights and brand values into new and innovative holistic user experience concepts.
• Define the user journeys and translate user insights and user journeys in interaction concepts, with the definition of menu flows and user interfaces, of both cooking and refrigeration products, as digital services, for example the Connect Life app.
• Specify user interfaces in Adobe Illustrator and/or flowcharts in Adobe XD or Sketch or similar.
• Build UI prototypes by using specific prototype software.
• Organizing early validations of product and user interface design prototypes with a consumer panel.

As Industrial Designer you work closely together with Research & Development, Product Management, Marketing, Category Management and your own department. These departments are located worldwide, cooperation will be with colleagues in Netherlands, Sweden, Slovenia and China.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Industrial Design Engineering or similar.
• Experience and affinity with product design and app design and an enthusiast in UI/ UX in general
• At least several years of experience working in international and multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication skills
• Affinity and experience with premium consumer goods
• Excellent in English and Dutch both orally and in writing.
• 3D CAD and render skills (like Siemens NX, Key shot)
• Adobe (Minimal Photoshop and Illustrator. XD and After Effects is an advantage)
• You are preferably a cooking enthusiast

You are able to work on several projects at the same time in a dynamic environment. You have a hands-on mentality and a feel for kitchen appliances.    

You understand that this international positions demands some traveling (10%).
